Delete your account

You can do this yourself, in the app, without asking us and without waiting. Here is exactly what happens when you do.

Last updated 31 October 2026

In the app

  1. Open TapCard and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm with your password, and tap Delete.

It happens immediately and cannot be undone. We ask for your password even though you are already signed in, so that someone who picks up your unlocked phone cannot destroy your account. If you signed up with Google you have no password, and your signed-in session is the proof instead.

You will get one email confirming it is done. After that we have no account to write to you about.

If you cannot reach the app

Email electricalemax@gmail.com from the email address on the account, with “Delete my account” as the subject. We do not need a reason.

We will confirm it is really you, delete the account, and reply to tell you it is done — within two working days. We ask that the request comes from the account’s own address because otherwise anyone who knows your email could have your account deleted.

What is deleted

  • Your account and your email address
  • Your profile — name, photograph, bio, contact details and bank details
  • All of your links
  • Your taps, views and visitor statistics
  • Your push notification tokens, so no device is notified again
  • Every signed-in session, on every device

What does not disappear, and why

Your physical cards are retired, not erased
A card is a printed object with a code on it that we cannot recall. So instead of deleting the code we permanently disable it: anyone who taps that card afterwards gets a page saying the card is inactive. It can never again open your old profile, and the username is never handed to anyone else.
Completed orders may be kept as business records
Where we are required to keep a record of a sale — tax and accounting rules — we keep the order itself, and nothing from your profile. If no such duty applies to an order, it goes with the rest.
Backups catch up within fourteen days
Encrypted database backups are kept for fourteen days and then deleted automatically. So for up to a fortnight after you delete your account, your data still exists inside a backup we cannot selectively edit. After that it is gone everywhere.

If you do not want to go that far

Deleting the account is the big hammer. Two smaller options do most of what people actually want:

Unpublish your page
Takes your profile offline immediately. The account stays, your details stay, and anyone tapping your card sees nothing of yours until you publish it again.
Pause the card
Stops that one card from opening your page — useful if you have lost it — while your page carries on working for everyone with the link.
