Terms
The agreement between you and Emax Innovation & Technology for using TapCard — the app, the website and the cards. Plain English, and short enough to actually read.
Effective 31 October 2026 · Last updated 31 October 2026
Agreeing to this
By creating a TapCard account, using the app or the website, or using a card, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use TapCard — and if you have already started, you can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab.
These terms are between you and [TODO: registered company name exactly as on the CAC certificate], trading as Emax Innovation & Technology, of [TODO: registered office address, including street and city], Lagos, Nigeria.
Who may use it
You must be 18 or older. TapCard is a tool for working adults and is not designed or offered to children. You must also be able to enter a contract where you live, and you must not be barred from using our services under any applicable law.
If you set up TapCard on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it, and “you” then means that company.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself; everything done with your account is treated as done by you. Tell us at electricalemax@gmail.com if you think someone else has got in, and we will end every session on the account.
Give us an email address that actually reaches you. It is how we confirm the account, reset the password and tell you about an order, and we are not responsible for what you miss if it is wrong.
One person, one account. Your username becomes the public address of your page, so it is yours while the account exists — but we may reclaim a username that impersonates someone else, infringes a trademark, or is one of the reserved words the system already refuses.
What you publish
Your profile is yours. You decide what goes on it and which parts are visible, and you keep every right you already had in it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store it, to show it to someone who opens your page, and to put it into the vCard, QR code and link that make the card work.
You are responsible for what you publish. It must be true about you, and it must be yours to publish — your own name, your own photograph, your own bank details, your own employer’s name if you are entitled to use it.
Things you must not do
You must not use TapCard to:
- pretend to be someone else, or to represent a business you have no authority to represent;
- publish someone else’s personal or bank details;
- publish anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or infringing another person’s rights;
- collect money under false pretences, or run any kind of fraud or phishing with a profile or a card;
- send bulk or unsolicited messages using details taken from a profile;
- probe, scrape, overload or attempt to break the service, or get around its security, rate limits or access controls;
- copy, resell or sublicense the service, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law says you may;
- upload anything containing malware, or use the service to distribute it.
We may remove a profile, disable a card or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is not serious we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it; where it is — fraud, impersonation, a real risk to someone — we may act immediately.
Cards, prices and delivery
Building and keeping your page is free. You pay only for the physical card: ₦25,000 for one, delivered, or ₦20,000 each for 5 or more. Prices are in Nigerian Naira and include delivery within Nigeria unless an order says otherwise.
The app takes no payments. There is no card payment, no subscription and no in-app purchase in TapCard. You place an order in the app, we confirm it, and payment is arranged with us directly — so we never hold your debit or credit card details.
Cards are normally printed and delivered in two to five working days after an order is confirmed. That is an estimate, not a guarantee: printing and courier delays happen, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.
Each card is printed with the name and the code you gave us. Check them before you confirm — a card printed correctly to the details you supplied is not faulty, and we cannot reprint it free.
If something is wrong with it
If a card arrives damaged, misprinted by us, or does not work when tapped or scanned, tell us within 14 days of delivery at electricalemax@gmail.com and we will replace it free or refund it, whichever you prefer. Send us a photograph if you can.
Because every card is printed to order with your own name on it, it is a personalised item: we cannot take it back simply because you changed your mind, and nothing in this paragraph affects your rights under Nigerian consumer law.
If you cancel before we have sent it to print, you get a full refund. After it has gone to print we cannot refund the card itself.
Keeping the service running
We work to keep TapCard available and quick, but we do not promise it will never be down. We may change features, and we may take it down for maintenance — for anything planned and significant we will give notice in the app or by email.
A card is a printed object with a code on it, and that code keeps working as long as your account does. If you pause a card, or report it lost, its page stops opening until you turn it back on. If you delete your account, the card is retired permanently and cannot be reused by anyone — including you.
Our own rights
The TapCard name, the app, the website, the designs, the card artwork and the software are ours and stay ours. These terms give you permission to use the service, not ownership of any part of it, and you may not use our name or logo to suggest we endorse you.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything for it. We will never claim your profile content as ours.
Other people’s services
Your page can link to other services, and the app relies on a few: Google for optional sign-in, Expo, Apple and Google for notifications, and Resend for email. Those are run by other companies under their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. What each one receives is set out in our privacy policy.
Apple and Google
Where you install TapCard from the App Store or Google Play, this agreement is between you and us, not with Apple or Google. Neither of them has any obligation to support the app or to deal with any claim about it.
If the app does not do what it should, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund what you paid for it — nothing, as the app is free. Beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation whatsoever in relation to the app. Any other claim relating to the app is our responsibility, not theirs.
Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it against you. You also confirm you are not in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on any US list of prohibited parties, and you agree to comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
What we do not promise
TapCard is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we do not give any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we do not promise that a card will be readable by every phone ever made — NFC needs a reasonably recent handset, which is exactly why every card also carries a QR code.
We are not responsible for business you believe you lost because a page was unavailable, nor for what someone does with details you chose to publish.
Limits on what we owe
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ₦25,000.
Ending it
You can end this agreement whenever you like by deleting your account in the app — here is how. Deleting it does not refund a card already printed.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we are required to by law. If we ever stop offering TapCardaltogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to take your data with you.
The sections on our rights, the limits on liability and governing law carry on applying after the agreement ends.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute.
Please write to us first at electricalemax@gmail.com. Almost everything is settled faster by email than by anything else.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top moves when we do, and if a change materially affects you and you have an account, we will email you before it takes effect. Carrying on using TapCard after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, delete your account.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
